Dear weblog,
Well, over 3 months have passed since Spencer started this whole blog thing, and our post total has hovered around 1 for that whole time. Hopefully we'll start posting more regularly, but I won't make any promises. We've all been really busy, both with music and with the more mundane aspects of our lives, so this blog hasn't been at the top of our minds. Plus, we're not sure anybody outside the band will ever read this.
Anyway, on to Lord Mandrake updates. We've just released our new EP "Dreamer," which we are all quite proud of. It's available to download off of our myspace page for free, but I would highly recommend buying a physical copy of it. We all put a lot of time in to it, we payed for it all out of our pockets, and we assembled it all ourselves. Plus it looks really good. I'm not sure if we've sent copies to local music stores yet. We'll keep you posted on that. If you know somebody in the band just contact them. We'd rather you buy it directly from us as the record stores will take a chunk of the money, and we're greedy bastards.
In other news, we just had an article about us published in City Weekly, the same publication that called us Elliott Smith rip-offs and accused us of puppy killing (we rarely kill puppies, and when we do, we don't write songs about it). Anyway, this article is quite good. Read it here:
Oh, My Lord!: Salt Lake City's Lord Mandrake will keep you (nearly) awake.
On the live music front, we have 3 shows planned for the next 3 months. We're taking a break from playing for a while because we'd like to focus more on writing and recording new material. Our next show is on January 24, and it will be an all locals show. It's at kilby court and apparently it'll be starting earlier for some reason (like 5:30PM. As if shows in Salt Lake didn't start early enough as it is). Then on February 18 we will be opening for local band Cavedoll- who will be releasing a CD on that same night - at kilby court. The Lionelle will also be playing that evening. Both Cavedoll and The Lionelle are really cool and we're very excited to play with them. Listen to Cavedoll here and The Lionelle here. Our biggest show to date will come on March 21. We will be opening for Papercuts and Beach House! This will, of course, be at kilby court.
That pretty much wraps it up. Remember, the Lord loves you!
Steve
